BBC Sports Unsung Hero Award

Does someone in your club really go the extra mile? Why not nominate them for this award!

The BBC has been awarding our Sports Unsung Hero awards for a decade now, in our 15 BBC English Regions and the Nations, then an overall winner being announced at the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year show each December.  Since 2003 those 150 Unsung Heroes have all come from a variety of backgrounds, but all had one thing in common.  They devote large parts of their lives to inspiring sports clubs and individuals across the UK.  They make it happen for no reward other than the satisfaction from helping make their sport better.

The nomination period for our 10th anniversary Unsung Hero awards is from now until the 14th October, and we’d love to see as wide a variety of nominations being made as possible.   The website is www.bbc.co.uk/unsunghero, and the twitter hashtag is #bbcunsunghero.

Road signage to all BRC Championships

Message from BRC HQ:

Just to let you know that we will no longer be able to have directional road signs for any of the BRC Championships. We have been unable to obtain planning permission from the local authority as there is a new ruling which states that signs are to alleviate potential traffic congestion caused by an event and they are not only to direct competitors to a competition. Subsequently we will only have signs in the immediate vicinity of the location.

Having discussed this with SEP, our car park contractor, I can’t foresee too much of a problem as most people now rely on a satnav or iphone and all of our venues are well known locations.
