Update from BRC HQ

Stay Safe

We have recently been made aware that an affiliated Club has been targeted by what appears to be fraudsters who have managed to hack in to some of the Club officials email accounts. Acting as the Chairman, they got in contact with the Treasurer and asked for funds to be transferred into a different bank account from the Club account. As most Clubs have websites with contact emails publically available, we would like to warn all Clubs to stay vigilant and be wary of any correspondence you may receive relating to transferring funds.

Crime Prevention Advice

British Riding Clubs are delighted to support Warwickshire Horse Watch and the Warwickshire Police on their new publication ‘Crime prevention advice for Riding Clubs.’ Packed with useful information and ideas regarding keeping Club property safe, this leaflet is available to all Clubs on the BRC website shortly, and free property marker pens can be obtained by emailing Warwickshire Horse Watch directly.

2015 / 16 Invoices

Your Club invoices will be sent out in the New Year and on receipt of payment for the Club affiliation invoice, 2016 Rule Books and Organisers Books will be sent out to you. Invoices will be posted to the Treasurer and also copied in an email to the Treasurer, Chair and Secretaries. Rule books will be posted out to the Secretaries.

New Affiliation Benefit – BRC Datasheets

A new affiliation benefit will be launched in January 2016. We have compiled a list of datasheets which will be sent out to your Secretaries on a data stick, with the 2016 Rule Books. These documents are ‘best practice guidance’ documents and cover a wide variety of subjects from How to make Prelim Entries, to How to run Club AGMs and Guidance for Hiring Venues and Instructors. We hope that some of these will be of use to your Club and will answer many of the most commonly asked queries that we get here at HQ.

Hat Standards

A guideline for the 2016 accepted hat standards is attached. Please feel free to share this with your members and add to your websites. BS/EN1384 will no longer be accepted at any BRC event from  1 January 216. At qualifiers hats will need to be tagged with new Orange hat tags. For any XC events, no ‘peaked’ hats are allowed. These hat standards are mandatory for any events, training, activities run under the BRC insurance.

Accidents and Insurance

Please remember to submit copies all accident forms to us here at HQ. It is also the Clubs’ responsibility to inform the insurers of any incident which may result in a claim being made. Incidents can be reported to SEIB on 0345 600 8368, stating that you are an affiliated British Riding Club.

2016 Rule Updates

Keep an eye out for any Rule changes which will be marked in bold text in the 2016 Rule Book.

Following the changes to British Dressage class and points structure, BRC will not be counting any points gained at BD Prelim level for the purposes of BRC eligibility. The BD website now separates out a horses points into the levels at which the points were awarded, so any Prelim winnings can be discounted.
